Flash for E-books: Do the Benefits Outweigh the Limitations?

Today’s lead story about Ugly Duckling Presse considers some of the benefits and limitations of using a Flash-based e-book platform. Among the main limitations is that Flash is not supported by Apple and has limited search capabilities. That said, Flash is almost universally supported by PCs and, increasingly, by numerous smartphones. As a reader, publisher or e-book producer do you think the benefits outweigh the limitations? Are there better options?
