British Airways

As reported in the Bookseller today, British Airways cabin crews have announced strikes that will affect travel both before and after the Bologna Children’s Book Fair this year, which will be held March 23-26.

The strikes are scheduled to take place on March 20-22 and March 27-30. British Airways says that not all of its flights during those time periods will be canceled, due to over 6,000 volunteers who have offered to work. However, flights to and from Bologna have been canceled during the strike periods. Check your tickets and make sure you have alternate travel arrangements.

The British Airways strike comes on the heels of a Lufthansa pilot strike in February that grounded planes for four days and cost the airline an estimated 25 million Euros a day in loses.

Headlines in British media indicate that the strike is not a welcome turn of events:

From The Guardian: British Airways strike is ‘unjustified and deplorable’, says Brown
