Tejaswini Niranjana, Giuseppe Ungaretti, Curzio Malaparte, and Archana Venkatesan win this year’s ALTA’s National Translation Awards.
ALTA has shortlisted work translated from Spanish, French, Arabic, Kannada, Bengali, Chinese, Italian, Croatian, Tamazight, and Korean.
The National Translation Awards shortlists include work from Italian, Russian, Chinese, Greek, Korean, Spanish, and Malay.
With shortlists expected late this month, the American Literary Translators Association has work from 13 languages in contention.
A total US$15,000 is being dispersed to winners of this year’s National Translation Awards from the American Literary Translators Association.
Both prose and poetry feature on the National Translation Awards longlist, in which the translations are evaluated by comparing them with the original text.
