Dreamscape Titles To Appear in June at the UK’s Sounded.com
The still relatively new audiobook platform Sounded Limited was opened just over a year ago, in early May 2023. The start-up is British, with its office in the Isle of Man. It opened its audiobook production platform at London Book Fair 2023, along with an online audiobook store.

Jason Kelly, an intellectual property and technology attorney opened the company with David Brown, a software developer. The story goes that Brown’s father is a self-publishing author who wanted to know how to make audio editions of his writings.

In terms of audiobook production, this is one of the automated-voice offerings springing up in recent years (before such efforts were called “artificial intelligence), The company says that it offers “more than 800 narrating voices, across 60 languages and 162 dialects.”

In the latter part of this year’s news-heavy May, Sounded has announced a partnership with Dreamscape Media in Holland, Ohio, to distribute its audiobook catalogue of more than 8,000 titles.

Audiobook titles from Dreamscape will now be included in Sounded.com’s audiobook offerings through its online desktop and mobile app services.

The partnership is said to expand the Sounded audiobook catalogue further, which company figures say has secured other agreements this year to offer more than 120,000 audiobook titles from its mobile apps.

Jason Kelly

Jason Kelly at Sounded is quoted in the news of the Dreamscape arrangement, saying that his company is “looking forward to making available [Dreamscape’s] amazing audiobook catalogue via our mobile apps.

“With more than 8,000 quality titles, this is a key partnership for Sounded moving forward as we continue to secure top titles, so our users can always find their next great listen. With the standout audiobooks from Dreamscape, we’ve got that covered.”

Sean McManus

Dreamscape president and publisher Sean McManus—who spoke in the 2023 Publishing Perspectives Forum at Frankfurter Buchmesse and is the current president of the Audio Publishers Association—says, “The partnership with Sounded.com aligns with our goals of attracting new listeners and broadening the reach of our titles.

“We’re excited to see our audience grow through Sounded’s offerings.”

Dreamscape Media’s audiobook titles will be available from Sounded from early June, the companies say, for purchase on an à la carte basis.
