‘Empowering Lives and Fostering Change’
In the United States, HarperCollins Focus has announced a new Spanish-language imprint called HarperEnfoque, led by Cris Garrido, who is vice-president and publisher of the house’s Spanish division.

HarperEnfoque is devised to publish “a variety of content dedicated to empowering  lives and fostering change,” according to media messaging provided to Publishing Perspectives.

The imprint is to include releases by recently acquired authors including Agustín Laje, Margarita Pasos, Sara Huff, and Pablo Muñoz Iturrieta, as well as bestselling titles in translation from John Maxwell, Dave Ramsey, Brian Tracy, Daniel Habif, and Zig Ziglar.

The first releases published under the new imprint include:

  • Pablo Muñoz Iturrieta’s Apaga el celular y enciende tu cerebro: Manipulación, control y destrucción del ser humano (Turn off Your Phone and Turn on Your Brain: Manipulation, Control, and Destruction of the Human Being; June 30)
  • Sara Huff’s Cómo fabricar a una feminista…: y cómo rescatarla de la prisión de falsa libertad que se le prometió (How To Make a Feminist …: And How to Rescue Her From the Prison of False Freedom She Was Promised; coming October 3)
  • Margarita Pasos’ Yo pude y tú también puedes (I Could And  You Can Too, date and cover not found)

In a prepared comment on the news of the imprint’s start, Garrido is quoted, saying, “Our vision is to hand-select an exclusive number of projects each year that are uniquely positioned to capture the interest of readers through content that challenges and inspires the mind and helps them to change their world.

Cris Garrido

“HarperEnfoque will be a natural extension of the HarperCollins Focus overall position in the marketplace—one that equips readers to lead a life of significance, integrity, and  purpose.

“Our goal is to publish unique voices that matter. We’ll look for authors that challenge the way we think and encourage us to be a catalyst for change, both within our immediate sphere of influence and beyond.

HarperCollins Focus’ imprints include Blink, Harper Celebrate, HarperEnfoque, HarperCollins Leadership, Harper Horizon, Harper Muse, and Harper Select. The company also operates HarperCollins Leadership Essentials, an online community.
