This year’s Readmagine conference in Madrid–again at the the Fundación Germán Sánchez Ruipérez‘s superb Casa del Lector (House of Reading) facility–is taking place on June 5–6.
The conference program produced by José Manuel Anta of the International Publishing Distribution Association in collaboration with Luis González, director general of the foundation.
On June 5, the Readmagine programming is themed “Learning Within the Boundaries” with a host of international speakers looking at new audiences, artificial intelligence, and more.
On June 6, the sixth International Digital Distributors Meeting (#6IDDM) will convene with topics on tap including subscription models, distribution issues, and “voice tech.”
The first day, under the Readmagine banner, features a keynote address from Brian O’Leary, executive director of the US Book Industry Study Group (BISG), his topic being “Publishing in the Exponential Age.”
Other speakers on the 5th of June include Chris Beer of the UK’s Global Web Index on “Understanding the New Audiences: Generation Z” and Colin Lovrinovic of German consulting company Gould Finch, on AI and profitability in publishing.
On the 6th of June at the digital distribution meeting, Rüdiger Wischenbart of Vienna will report on the ebook market’s distribution status today at the international scale, this from his “Global Ebook Report” material. (Wischenbart directs this week’s Klopotek Publishers’ Forum in Berlin on May 9 –10, and Publishing Perspectives is participating in the programming and will be reporting from that conference, as we do annually.)
Anta’s June 6 program also includes several interesting roundtable discussions, including:
- “Voice Tech: Challenges and Opportunities for the Publishing Sector” with Shane Ennis, co-founder and chief product officer at news Over Audio in Ireland, and Pablo Fernández Delkáder, innovation and product development director with Spain’s atiPRISA Radio.
- “Book Discoverability: Latest Developments” with Eric Briys of Cyberlibris in France and Cigdem Aker from the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels.
