In Latin America, women see progress in terms of their leadership roles in independent publishing houses and in the way society recognizes the contributions of women writers in the literary scene.
A panel on “Morality and Publishing” co-organized by Byte the Book and the Frankfurt Book Fair highlighted the ways publishers face social and political pressure in various countries, and what steps they are taking to bring diverse voices to readers.
In addition, academic publishers are facing the problematic “Plan S” announcement from research funders in Europe that could have a serious impact on their business.
And as the trade days of the Frankfurt Book Fair finish today, Norway brought a number of authors to the fair this year in a preview of its Guest of Honor program in 2019.
