Santiago newspaper La Tercera reports that Pedro Huerta, the director of Kindle Content at Amazon, has assured Chileans that the Kindle will will be up and running in Chile, with enhanced content in Spanish, within 18 months. Pablo Dittborn, the editor of Random House Chile has assured that the costs of passing from PDF format to EPUB is now down to about $50 dollars per book, an accessible price which — along with Amazon’s backing — will ensure that the e-book market in Latin America finally takes off.
