New Spanish Books

The Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) is teaming up with the Spanish Publishers Association to make books from Spain and Latin America more accessible to a German audience with the new online platform New Spanish Books (www.newspanishbooks.de).

In addition to reaching out to a consumers, the goal of the platform is also to promote the translation of Spanish-language books into German. According to the Boersenblatt, the site features German descriptions of books ranging from fiction and non-fiction to children’s books, along with author interviews and even information about a book’s rights holder and links to opportunities for translation grants. A similar project was launched in Great Britain in 2007 but this is the first of its kind in Germany.
