Tomorrow night’s UEFA Champion’s League final match between Manchester United and Barcelona in Rome is expected to draw a television audience in excess of 100 million viewers. After all, it pits two of the most storied franchises in European football against each other in what many consider to be the most elite tournament in the world.
It’s destined to be a fantastic match, with plenty (let’s hope) of goal scoring from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. My sincere desire is that some enterprising publisher has planned ahead and planted a writer on each sideline to record the game from the perspectives of the two teams. Combine them and you should have one heck of a book.
In the lead up to the match, we’d like to hear from you in the comments section below about which team you’d like to see win and why. As an incentive, on Thursday, one random entry will be picked from the winning side to receive my personal copy of Franklin Foer’s fantastic book “How Soccer Explains the World,” a book every fan should have on their shelf.
As for that book about the match, let us know if anyone is working on it and please make sure to put us on the press list for a copy.
