On the heels of Sony’s announcement that it will release a new touch screen wireless reader in the US in December, the Boersenblatt reports that a  new Sony reader will be available in Germany in mid-October. Priced at 299 euros, the second generation reader for Germany will feature a touch screen, search, note-taking and bookmarking functions. It will come loaded with eleven book excerpts, including an English-language cookbook and the German editions of Jeffrey Deaver’s The Broken Window and Blaze by Stephen King (written under the alias Richard Bachman).

Buch.de is adapting its services to an increasingly mobile readership. The online retailer has announced that registered customers can now place their orders online via their mobile phones, reports BuchMarkt. Customers who are not yet registered must do so first on a PC or laptop.
