German wholesaler Libri has come up with a solution for purchasing e-books in traditional brick-and-mortar bookstores. With the Libri.Digital model, customers can search for and order a title in-store using Libri.Connect software specifically created for this purpose. They can then purchase the e-book directly at the register and receive a download link via e-mail. According to buchreport, Libri currently has around 32,000 titles available digitally.

Libreka, the online book search database and retailer run by the Marketing- und Verlagsservice des Buchhandels, introduced its own model three months ago, which involves downloading and saving the file (i.e. to a USB stick) in the shop itself.
