SURVEY: Has the Erotica Phenomenon Flamed Out?

By Edward Nawotka, Editor-in-Chief

Fifty Shades of Grey was “the” publishing story of 2012. The book sold tens of millions of copies and sparked several bestsellers in its wake. But, as discussed in our feature story, there is more to erotica than mere BDSM and, even though the market exists, the erotica trend is going to be tricky to sustain, say authors, booksellers and publishers.

Take the survey below and tell us what you think.

Has the Erotica Phenomenon Flamed Out?

  • No, the market for erotica has always existed and now just more visible in the mainstream (75%, 47 Votes)
  • Yes, the mass popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey and erotica has run its course (14%, 9 Votes)
