Technical Difficulties Can Be Good
November 30, 2010
By Hannah Johnson
As some of you may have noticed, our server went down today because we had too much traffic. As @babetteross said, “Well that’s both good news and bad news!” How true.
As I waiting in the customer service “phone queue” for 45 minutes before finally talking to someone at our hosting service, it occurred to me that tech problems, while frustrating and time consuming, can be an opportunity. If we are upgrading the server, we might as well upgrade our website, too. What kind of reading experience do we want to deliver? What features are important to us and our readers? What is missing? Etc, etc.
Thank you to all our readers who made this server crash possible. Publishing Perspectives will continue to improve our online experience and deliver our content in the best way possible. If you have any suggestions or feedback, send an email to hannah[at]publishingperspectives[dot]com.
