In our continuing series on dead, dying, and vaporware e-readers, we add the news that the makers COOL-ER e-reader is said to have gone into liquidation (according to TeleRead ,via a contributor).

The COOL-ER garnered a great deal of attention at BEA 2009, particularly for it’s candy hued covers. On launch it was a reasonably priced $250, but with prices dropping like proverbial lead balloons, it appears that the company couldn’t compete.

At least one distributor — Brazil’s Gato Sabido, still has some in stock and is offering them for R$750 (US $430).

I believe the BEA that featured Cool-er Reader was 2009, not 2010. Were they too far ahead of the wave? Dangerous for a start-up without the deepest of pockets.

This continues to reinforce that content is what matters. The Cool-est reader in the world won’t be successful without easy access to content. The iPod proved this in music and Kindle proved it with books.

Indeed, it was 2009 not 2010. Corrected, thanks Mike
