Berlin’s national library is assembling a new collection of rare Hebrew and Yiddish texts published by Jewish Holocaust survivors in Displaced Person Camps between 1945 and 1950. Approximately 400 titles were published in the DP camps, around 200 of which are in the library’s possession. According to the Boersenblatt, a majority of the religious texts published were written in Hebrew, while the more secular texts were written in Yiddish. The collection is supported by the New York-based Martin Breslauer Foundation and will be presented in the spring.
